Georgina Farías Nicolópulos, known as “Gogy”, was born on November 16th in Mexico City, where she currently lives and works. She studied plastics arts at the Iberoamerican University (1960 – 1964), while simultaneously attending classes at the National School of Plastic Arts, La Esmeralda (1962–1964). She also worked in the painting workshop of E. Coghlan and in the modeling workshop of C. Espinoza de los Monteros.
GOGY FARIAS is one of the first sculptress of the contemporary Mexico, with over 40 years of artistic work which includes over 300 collective exhibitions, 94 individual exhibitions and more than 50 monumental works located in art squares, public squares and in several business centers.
Her exhibitions have been presented in the following places: Athens and Port of Piraeus, Greece; Barcelona, Spain; Bandole, Toulon and Paris, France; E.U.R district in Rome and Florence, Italy; Warsaw, Czestochowa and Lod’such, Poland; Szeksard and Budapest, Hungary; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Santiago, Chile; Punta del Este, Uruguay; Los Angeles CA, New York N.Y., New Mexico, Santa Fe, West Orange, New Jersey, Boca Ratón, Palm Beach, Miami, Pampano B., Florida in The United States; Montreal, Laval and Quebec in Canada.
Gogy’s artistic work and professional career, in which she achieves the syncretism between the figurative and the expressionist, place this artist as one of the best sculptors in the world.
